Golem is an esence which is inherently connected with the former Jewish Quarter. Golem was created by a learned rabbi Jehuda Löv ben Bezalel, who lived during the reign of the emperor Rudolf II. Golem was a statue of muscular man made of clay who was brought to live on the basis of a deep knowledge of Jewish sciencies. Golem worked as a servant in the household of rabbi Löw. Each time Golem was brought to live by inserting of a clay plate into his mouth. This magic facilitation was called the "shem". Nevertheless an aggressiveness of Golem gradually grew, so that it was not possible to take kontrol of him and rabbi Löw decided not to revive him any more. For centuries people beleive that statue of Golem occurs on the attic of the Old New Synagogue.
