A trip to the monumental Gothic castle built 650 years ago. The castle was founded in 1348 by the Charles IV, King of Bohemia and Holy Roman Emperor as his private residence. The Castle was built to house here the coronation jewels and the holy relics.  The construction was completed in 1365. During a visit you will see  Well Tower, Burgrave´s House, Imperial Palace, Marian Tower, Great Tower.  The Chapel of the Holy Cross is the most important part of the Castle. A wall of Chapel is decorated by 129 paintings created by Master Theodoric a high level of the Czech gothic art. The Chapel is also richly decorated by semi-precious stones. For Czech people the Karlštejn Castle is a very important place of pilgrimage.
